An audiovisual installation for JeugdFilmFestival JEF
Context

As part of our bachelor's program, Silke Janssens and I collaborated on an interactive installation for the JEF Youth Film Festival. The task was to create an engaging experience for children in the festival's Medialab, blending creativity and technology. Silke focused on the design elements, while I took charge of the technical side, including coding the game and building the play table. We drew inspiration from the importance of light in film — without light, there can be no movie! The result was the Lumineuze Lichtbak, a playful game where children collect glowing lightballs to unlock an iconic movie scene: the kissing scene. What makes this project unique is its fusion of digital and physical interaction. Using bright colors, quirky characters, and fun sound effects, the installation creates a memorable, hands-on experience for kids. Personally, this project allowed me to explore the exciting overlap between digital technology and physical play, a field I’m eager to continue exploring in future projects.
